General Information:

- Please read the programme information first, make sure you meet all of the eligibility requirements and understand the application instructions before you apply. Only a complete application can be considered.

- Please consult our information leaflet in Armenian, which tells you how to check your documents for completeness.

- Please consult our flyer in Armenian for questions regarding motivation letter, CV and reference letter.

- Do not staple any of the copies of your application. Use one-sided copies in format DinA4 only.

- Please sign all copies of the application form by hand.

- Recognised language certificates in German are: TestDaF, DSH, DSD, onDaF, as well as certificates of the Goethe-Institut (e.g. ZOP, ZMP).

- Applicants who want to take the onDaF test, please register online. Test date for applicants will at the end of November 2015.

- If you don't know how to register for the onDaF, here is an easy guide in Armenian that will answer all your questions.

- Recognised language certificates in English are: TOEFL, IELTS Academic, TOEIC, CPE, CAE, CFE and BEC. Please check university admission requirements.

- Male applicants are asked to mention their military service in their CV if it is already concluded.

- There are no interviews in the programmes University Summer Courses, Study Scholarships for Artists, Research Scholarships (with the above mentioned exceptions) and Research Stays.

University Summer Courses offered in Germany for Foreign Students and Graduates (Partial Scholarships)

Please note: changing application procedure

Application Deadline 24/11/2015

These grants are awarded to enable students to attend German language and area studies courses plus special language/terminology courses that are offered by state (public) or state-recognised German higher education institutions and by affiliated language schools. Please note that these scholarships are part-cost grants. Please note that only courses conducted in German can be chosen. Choose your course in the Summer Course Database.

  • Period: 3-4 weeks
  • Specialisation: all
  • Target group: Students (2nd, 3rd year BA, 4th year BA if the applicant includes a confirmation by the university that he/she will continue in a MA programme in Armenia upon completing the 4th year, 1st MA)

Requirements:

  • Applications are open to students and graduates in Bachelor's and Master's programmes of all subject areas who will have completed at least two academic years of studies at the time of starting their funded stay.
  • Applicants must present proof of good German language skills and must be able to follow lectures and presentations and to collaborate in teams. The required language skills must at least be equivalent to a very good level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
  • Applicants must be registered or enroled at a university in their home country or in their country of permanent residence (but not Germany).
  • The minimum age at the time of starting the funded stay is 18 years.
  • Neither graduates holding a Master's degree nor PhD students are eligible for application to this programme.
  • An applicant may only be considered once for a DAAD Intensive Language Course or University Summer Course Grant in any three consecutive years.

Value

  • One-off scholarship payment of 850 euros; 
  • Payment of a  travel allowance of ca. 700 euros;
  • Payments towards health, accident and personal liability insurance cover

Application Procedure:

Apply online via the DAAD application portal. First register with the application portal, then fill out the application form and upload all documents listed below. Finally hand in 3 print copies of your application summary at the DAAD IC Yerevan.

1. Documents to be uploaded to the DAAD portal:

  • Online application form
  • CV with your signature
  • Signed motivation letter.
    Please give information about your chosen course; please consult our flyer for questions regarding motivation letter, CV and reference letter.
  • Precise and detailed description of the chosen summer courses. Please use DAAD form
  • Copy of student book and if available diplomas as well as certified translation (English or German)
  • Language certificate in German or registration for onDaF; if you don't know how to register for the onDaF, here is an easy guide in Armenian that will answer all your questions

Please submit your application via the application portal. After having sent your application you will automatically receive a summary of your application (this may take 24-48 hours).

2. To be submitted to the DAAD Information Center Yerevan:

  • Please print out our checklist (in Armenian or English) fill it out and submit it together with your application papers
  • 3 copies of the "Application summary", which is generated in the portal in PDF format and which can be printed out after the online application procedure is completed;
  • One recent reference from a university teacher which provides information about your qualifications; please enclose one copy of the reference in a sealed envelope with each copy of your application

Additional documents or originals will not be accepted. Please print out your application summary one-sided and in the format A4, please do not staple any of the prints.

Successful candidates will have to present a notarised copy of their student book to the DAAD.

Study Visits / Study Seminars and Practicals

The DAAD programme “Study Visits/Study Seminars and Practicals” supports visits to Germany by groups of foreign students headed by a university teacher. The programme aims to provide students with subject-related knowledge by arranging appropriate visits, tours and information meetings (Study Visits) or by organising subject-related seminars and practical courses (e.g. specialist courses, block seminars, workshops) at the invitation of a German university (Study Seminars and Practicals).

Applications must be submitted through the DAAD portal in accordance with the following new deadlines:

  • 1st November for trips starting from 1st March
  • 1st February for trips starting from 1st June
  • 1st May for trips starting from 1st September

Concert Trips

The DAAD programme “Concert Trips” supports visits to Germany by groups of students in order to perform in Germany.

Goals of the programme:

  • Concerts (if possible together with students of the German (partner) university)
  • Attainment of subject-based knowledge through visits and consultations in German universities
  • Meetings with students, musicians and academics in Germany to establish and maintaining contacts between foreign and german universities

Please note that this scholarship programme is granting 50 € per participant and day. The minimum number of participants is 5 and the maximum number of participants is 50. The maximum number of days is 12.

Applications must be submitted through the DAAD portal at least 3 months prior to the concert trip.

Study Scholarships for Graduates of All Disciplines 

Application deadline: 05/11/2015

Overview:

  • Period: between 10 and 24 months depending on the length of the chosen study programme
  • Specialisation: all
  • Target group: Graduates

  • Applicants who are already in Germany in the first academic year of a 2-year postgraduate or Master's programme at the time of their application may apply for a scholarship for the second year of study

What requirements must be met?

  • As a rule, applicants should have taken their final examinations no longer than six years before the application deadline.
  • Applicants who have been resident in Germany for longer than 15 months at the application deadline cannot be considered.
  • Notification of admission from the German host university for the desired degree course; please note that you yourself are responsible for ensuring that you apply for admission at the host university by the due date. If notification of admission is not yet available at the time of application, it must be subsequently submitted before the scholarship-supported study begins. A Scholarship Award Letter from the DAAD is only valid if you have been admitted to study at the desired host university.
  • If the degree programme includes a study period or work placement abroad lasting several months, funding for this period abroad is usually only possible under the following conditions:
    - The study visit is essential for achievement of the scholarship objective.
    - The study period is no longer than a quarter of the scholarship period. Longer periods cannot be funded, even partially.
    - The study period does not take place in the home country.

Language skills

  • When you apply for your chosen study programme, you are usually required to prove that you have an adequate knowledge of the language of tuition. You can find out exactly what language skills are required in the university's study and admissions regulations.
  • Good German language skills – especially for students taking arts subjects – are usually a requirement for studying in Germany. Exceptions are possible if scholarship holders are participating in programme which is taught in English.

Value:

  • Scholarship payments of 750 euros a month
  • Payments towards health, accident and personal liability insurance cover
  • Travel allowance, unless these expenses are covered by the home country or another source of funding
  • One-off study allowance

Under certain circumstances, scholarship holders may receive the following additional benefits:

  • Contribution towards tuition fees that may be charged by the university (max. € 500.- per semester)
  • Monthly rent subsidy
  • Monthly allowance for accompanying members of family

Certificates, proof of credits, certifications and translations may be scanned in non-certified form and uploaded to the DAAD portal. DAAD's Head Office in Bonn will only request certified copies of the submitted documents in paper form if a grant is awarded!

For a postgraduate or Master's degree completed in Germany:


For a study period in Germany as part of a postgraduate or Master's degree completed in the home country:

  • Proof that the academic achievements rendered in Germany will be recognised in the home country


Also for all applicants:

  • University degree certificate indicating final grade(s): the certificate must be subsequently submitted before the scholarship-supported study programme begins if studies have not been completed at the time of application.
  • Other documents you think might be of relevance to your application (e.g. certificates of employment, proof of placements)
  • Copy of school-leaving certificate which entitles holders to study at a university in the home country (with all individual grades)
  • Language Certificate (German and/ or English)
    German language skills will be tested with the onDaF (if you do not have another official German language certificate). A step-by-step video tutorial for registration for the onDaF can be found here (Armenian).
  • German or English translations of documents submitted in the national language

ERP Study Scholarships for Graduates of Economics and Business Administration

Application deadline: 05/11/2015

Overview:

  • Period: up to 24 months
    Only Degree courses lasting 24 months are awarded. The award will initially cover the first academic year. For students with good study achievements it can upon application be extended to cover the full length of the chosen degree course.
  • Specialisation: Economics and Management
  • Target group: Graduates in Economics and Management

  • In case you want to apply for an "International Master Program" please choose one by clicking on this link
  • Applicants who are already in Germany in the first academic year of a 2-year postgraduate or Master's programme at the time of their application may apply for a scholarship for the second year of study
  • If the degree programme includes a stay abroad, funding for this stay abroad will only be considered if it takes place in an EU Country (not in the home country) and lasts a maximum of 25 per cent of the scholarship term.

What requirements must be met?

  • Applicants must be graduates of Diplom or Bachelor degree courses. Students in the final year may apply, if they will receive their diploma in June 2016
  • As a rule, applicants should have taken their final examinations no longer than six years before the time of application.
  • Applicants who have been resident in Germany for longer than 15 months at the time of application cannot be considered.
  • Applicants must apply to three host universities for admission to studies previously. The notification of admission must be presented to the DAAD before the scholarship-supported studies begin. The scholarship award letter from the DAAD only becomes effective once the holder has been admitted to studies.
  • Incomplete applications cannot be considered by the DAAD.

Language skills

  • Language skills according to the requirements of the desired study programme have to be proved.
  • Good German language skills are usually a requirement for studying in Germany. Exceptions are possible if scholarship holders are participating in programme which is taught in English.

  • Upon decision of the selection committee the DAAD may fund attendance of a German language course at a language school in Germany before the scholarship-supported studies begin
  • Further payments can be paid upon application (Family allowances cannot be paid).

  • An English certificate in case the language of your study is English.

Re-invitation Programme for Former Scholarship Holders (please note application procedure has changed)

Application deadline: 15/11/2015

To maintain contact with Germany, former DAAD Research Grant or Study Scholarship holders with funding for more than six months and former DDR (East German) Scholarship holders who studied in Germany for at least one year can apply for a re-invitation. Funding is available for research and working projects at a state or state-recognised (public) university or a non-university research institution. Former scholarship holders working outside the science sector can also apply for funding to cover a working stay at another institution in business or industry, administration, culture or media. The large number of applications received for this programme, however, means that it is generally not possible to consider all applicants.

Requirements:

  • At least three years should have elapsed since the applicants returned from the fellowship in Germany
  • The applicants should have remained in regular scientific contact with their counterparts in Germany
  • The applicants should submit copies of correspondence with their counterparts indicating their willingness to receive them at their institution during the proposed visit. A definite research plan, prepared in consultation with the German counterparts, should be submitted
  • A scholarship can only be obtained once every three years
  • Scholarships can be started on 1 June at the earliest

Value:

  • Monthly payments of 2,000 € for assistant teachers, assistant professors and lecturers, 2,150 € for professors
  • If applicable: travel allowance
