Leibniz Institute of European History (IEG): Research Fellowship Programme
Programme Description
The Leibniz Institute of European History (IEG) awards research fellowships to junior scientists in the subjects of European history, history of religion and historical theology or any other historical disciplines.
The Institute supports research projects on European history from the early modern period until 1989/90. The fellowship primarily finances projects
The IEG Fellowship provides junior scientists with the opportunity to pursue their individual research project, while living and working for a period of six to 12 months at the Institute. Every year around 20 fellowships are awarded. The monthly stipend amounts to EUR 1,350 for doctoral candidates and to EUR 1,800 for post-doctoral researchers. In addition, a family allowance will be paid, if necessary.

- adopting a comparative or transnational approach,
- on European history with regard to its international connectedness or
- on intellectual, religious or theological history.

Target Group
doctoral candidates and post-doctoral researchers in the subjects of history, history of religion, historical theology or any other historical disciplines from Germany and abroad addressing the historical foundations of Europe from the early modern era until 1989/90.
Academic Requirements
higher-education degree at least: M.A., comprehensive degree course (state examination, Diplom), ecclesiastical examination or PhD

Application Papers
The IEG calls for applications from doctoral candidates twice a year. Application deadlines are 15 February and 15 August of each year. For post-doctoral researchers the deadline is 15 October of each year.
